Dengue remains a significant global health issue for parents. Every year, thousands of lives have been called upon by dengue. We should not solely rely on the government’s attempt to address this problem, because we also play a crucial role in achieving Zero Dengue Death by 2030. Things we can do to achieve the goal:
Maintaining Environmental Cleanliness
One of the primary factors of the escalation of dengue is the existence of the breeding grounds of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, the vector of dengue. We can help prevent the escalation of mosquitoes by maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings. Ensure there are no stagnant water areas around the house, regularly clean water containers like bathtubs, flower vases, or other storage containers as well as exterminating the mosquito’s breeding ground (PSN) with 3M Plus: (Menguras, Menutup, Mendaur ulang) Draining, Closing, and Recycling.1
Education and Community Awareness
Socialize information about dengue to your family, neighbors, and the community. Being educated about the symptoms, transmission, and prevention of dengue is crucial so that the community can be more vigilant and take appropriate action. Campaigns in schools, community health centers, and social media can be effective means to convey this information.
Self-Examination
Moms and Dads should also recognize the symptoms of dengue to seek medical care promptly if needed. If you experience high fever, joint pain, severe headache, repeated vomiting,2 or other suspicious signs, immediately contact the nearest health facility for proper treatment.
Supporting Dengue Vaccination
Vaccination is one of the supplementary efforts in preventing dengue. Following the vaccination schedule established by medical associations is a crucial step to protect oneself and those around us as well as consultation with a doctor before dengue vaccination is essential. Doctors will provide accurate information, answer questions, give personalized recommendations, and assist in comprehensive dengue prevention.
Involving Communities and Organizations
Joining a community or organization concerned with dengue issues can provide a platform to collaborate in prevention efforts. By working together, we can organize campaigns, environmental cleanup activities, or educational programs to increase awareness and knowledge of the community about dengue.
With the enthusiasm of the collaboration between the government and the community, we could actualize the vision "Towards Zero Dengue Death 2030". Attempts to prevent and control dengue are not tasks that should only be handled by the government alone. We, as individuals, also play a crucial role in maintaining health and reducing the risk of this disease.
Through awareness of the importance of the dengue prevention measures, we can protect ourselves and those around us from the dangers of dengue. Additionally, it is essential to continuously pay attention to our surroundings by eliminating places that can become mosquito breeding grounds and implementing the suggested measures.
Every small action we take, such as using mosquito nets while sleeping, wearing clothing that protects against mosquito bites, and avoiding stagnant water that can be a breeding ground for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, can contribute to our effort to achieve the goal of "Zero Dengue Death."
Let's play an active role together in fighting dengue. Through cooperative efforts and awareness, we can create a future with much less threat of dengue and achieve the vision of Zero Dengue Death by 2030.
Moving towards Zero Dengue Death 2030 requires collaborative efforts involving various parties, including us as the general public society and healthcare professionals. By increasing public awareness, we can progress towards this noble goal. It is crucial for every individual to take the right preventive measures with 3M Plus and consult with a doctor about dengue vaccine as one of the preventive measures from dengue.3 Let's take action, Moms and Dads!
